Adapt Typeface

Objective: Design a typeface package based off the work/philosophies of a famous person.

I designed this typeface based off of Bruce Lee’s philosophy of Jeet Kune Do. Lee compares JKD to the fluidity of water, due to the adaptive nature of the art. Just like Lee’s philosophy, I designed a circular grid shaped like containers of water where the typeface could adapt and flow within it.

The typeface package includes this two-sided poster.

Also part of the package is a Digipack, CD, and Insert.

The grid takes the form of a container where the type can flow and adapt freely. Circular letters have fluid characteristics while those with "limbs" such as j,k, and t resemble Bruce Lee in various action stances.

Porcupines Nature Book

Objective: Design a book based on anything from nature and be as experimental as possible.

I created a non-conventional book on porcupines, using tight leading to mimic the 30,000 quills compacted on a porcupine’s body. The content of the book compares and contrasts the two different kinds of porcupines: New World porcupines in North America and the much larger Old World porcupines in Africa.

The book is sheathed inside a 24 x 3 inch slipcase. Once removed, it is read by unfolding each triangle.
